ButlerPattaya, Thailand, isn’t what it used to be.
The launch of upmarket resorts in the Gulf of Thailand tourism hub and transformation of existing properties have changed Pattaya’s inbound demographic, with the growth of couples, families and business travellers now outstripping increases in other leisure visitors.
InterContinental Hotels Group joined the influx last year when it took over management of a Sheraton property and has since moved to consolidate its market position with a major refurbishment program and introduction of the Club InterContinental Experience, which includes exclusive guest suites and a butler service for Club InterContinental members.
Set on a secluded six-acre site overlooking the gulf at Pra Tahmnak, 10 minutes from downtown Pattaya, and spilling down to the sea, the five-star InterContinental Pattaya Resort offers a private beach, 156 guest rooms with 40 suites and two villas.
Club InterContinental members have exclusive access to their own lounge, serving a la carte breakfasts, a traditional afternoon high tea and premium wines and spirits.
The resort’s general manager, Jacqui Cuthbertson, says Club InterContinental is a tailor-made experience inspired by authentic Thai hospitality, delivered by a dedicated “at-your-side” butler with full access to the exclusive beachfront Club Lounge.
“We have spectacular ocean views and the resort is easy to reach from Bangkok,” she adds. “InterContinental Pattaya Resort is a private, exclusive haven, a special place to relax and reinvigorate your life. And although we have a private exclusive space with the best ocean views in Pattaya, the resort is five minutes by shuttle from the city. So shopping, activities and golf courses are easily accessible.
“The five-star service and VIP experience begins the moment guests depart Bangkok and continues with personal service and pampering that defines guests’ stay. We offer luxury cruise trips to Coral and Bamboo Islands, both of which are part of the sweeping ocean views at the resort, gourmet beach BBQs on our private white sand beach, a popular experience at Amburaya Spa which features exclusively locally-made award-winning Harnn Natural Spa products and two top-class restaurants, Infiniti and Elements. Infiniti with its Mediterranean-themed menu and locally-inspired cocktails is THE place in Pattaya to enjoy the sunset and ocean views.”
“Guests can enjoy a beautiful natural setting and the city as well. It’s the best of both worlds. For the eastern seaboard of Thailand and Pattaya, the level of service offered is available only here.”
A blend of traditional Thai and contemporary styles enhanced by teak furnishings form the elegant décor of guest rooms, suites and villas. Every room has a private balcony overlooking a tropical garden or the ocean.
Suites are a spacious 77 square metres each with an outdoor sala pavilion.
Two oceanfront villas – Baan Sai Nam (two bedrooms) and Ban Sai Chol (one bedroom – are located just above the private beach, offering unsurpassed views to nearby islands. Each villa has separate dining and living areas, a state-of-the-art plasma TV, a private Infinity pool and sundeck. All bedrooms have open-plan bathrooms with large terrazzo bathtubs for two, large rain showers, and plenty of vanity space.
A new beachfront meeting venue makes the resort perfect for meetings, seminars, private receptions, parties and weddings. The ballroom can cater for an elaborate banquet and theme parties, and its flexible space allows for meetings of up to 200 persons seated theatre style.
Recreational facilities include three outdoor swimming lagoons, Amburaya Spa, Planet Trekkers kids’ club and a modern, well-equipped fitness centre, as well as two restaurants and a bar.
